[sword-devel] OSIS and variant editions of the same Bible translation?

If one applies a bit of lateral thinking to the phenomenon of publishing
variant editions of the same Bible translation, it should in theory be
feasible to combine all such common source editions into a single module
with OSIS filter support to switch between the variant editions.

Example: The New Heart English Bible

This exists as three separate editions:
NHEB = the "standard" Edition
NHEB:JE = the Jehovah Edition
NHEB:ME = the Messianic Edition

As I understand these,
the JE is the "standard" one with the Divine name "the LORD" replaced by
"Jehovah"
the ME is the "standard" one with all instances of "Jesus" replaced by
"Yeshua", and "Christ" by "Messiah", plus using Anglicized Hebrew spellings
instead of Western spellings for many other proper names and place names.
(e.g. "Miriam" instead of "Mary").

I'm thinking that were OSIS to be suitably extended, these variants could be
made switchable by suitable module options.

One could apply the same concept to the World English Bible, which also has
the Hebrew Names Version of the World English Bible, also known as the World
English Bible: Messianic Edition.

It may be a bit late in the day to make this suggestion, but those CrossWire
volunteers who were active in defining the OSIS standard might like to
consider this.
