Thanks for your feedback! Yes you are correct the Ruby text is not currently correctly displayed. This is a software limitation - lack of adequate control in the back end and lack of adequate display functionality in the frontends.
The current plan is to have this matter resolved in the next sword release (1.5.12).
Wrt software translation - your contribution would be extremely welcome. There are several front ends all of which would benefit from translation into Japanese.
The two I could guide you through and help getting it rapidly off the ground are Gnomesword (for Linux) and Bibledesktop (a Java programme suitable ffor Macs, Windows and Linux at the same time)
