I'm glad you got it.  I use

  http://multirbl.valli.org/lookup/64.71.190.106.html

as a useful quick check of RBL status, it checks 240+ RBLs for you. 
That IP is no longer in SORBS, so what you did worked.

In general, IMO it is quicker/easier to install and run a text mode
browser on the server, such as w3m or lynx or links, than to set up a
whole VM just for this purpose :)
