There was info on reverse DNS sent to you from the new provider... I'll
try to read it again later today. Unfortunately I'm dealing with a
really nasty cold, almost flu, thing at the moment -- so not really
feeling like configuring BIND on crosswire.org. Maybe later today I'll
feel more alive and get going on that.
I think for reverse DNS there are two options: (1) tell the provider
what names you want returned, and they host it, or (2) tell the provider
where your DNS severs are and host the reverse info yourself.
I was hoping for (2), but don't want to tell your provider where my work
DNS servers are, because then when we move DNS to crosswire.org itself
we have to telling "and now the DNS servers moved"... better to set up
what will be the "permanent" DNS approach and then get reverse DNS
sorted out.
I'd forgotten the issues with email for some servers and lack of reverse
DNS, though.
I think we should (a) pray I feel more alive in a few hours and can set
up DNS, and if that doesn't happen, consider (b) telling the provider
you want reverse DNS for 64.71.190.106 to be crosswire.org please,
according to the instructions they provided you ealier.
Can you make it so I have ability to edit named.conf and relevant
zonefiles, and to stop and start BIND, on crosswire.org ?
Jonathan
