Peter,

If you build your package entirely from xiphos git head, please note that the debian tree is outdated.
I suggest you to delete it and instead use the latest debian directory from the pkg-crosswire team:
git clone https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-crosswire/xiphos.git
You'll need to update debian/changelog to xiphos 4.0.5.
