Just one point that should be remembered.

Free GitHub hostings are all public.

So if you're doing collaborative text development on a copyrighted work, 
assuming you have permissions, you shouldn't be doing on a public GitHub
project.

If you want any private hostings on GitHub, there's an annual fee.
