[sword-devel] Please advise, final steps towards our teams electronic publication

After 1 1/2 years of waiting we have finally gotten past all textual issues for publishing our translated Bible into the Sword Format. Now I need to get past all technical issues so that we can put it out.

History: I have used probably 4 different ways to produce Bible modules for Sword.
1) Bibledit (my favorite, because it seems quite easy)
Issues: If I am not mistaken it hard codes Bible references and Title names into the verses.
2) Paratext-Pathway export to Sword
3) Export from Paratext to OSIS. Then use xmltogbs to create module.
4) Robert H.'s script to convert to OSIS and then sword (I may have lost a couple of verses using this method, but I can't say that with certainty.)

Problems: Why when I do the Bibledit export do footnotes show up easily in xiphos, but not at all in eloquent. (ESV does not have this problem)?
Pocketsword: shows a header at the beginning and end of a text (again ESV does not have this problem)?
How do I avoid hard coded bible verse references?

My overall question is what ways have you found to be the most effective module creating methods? What would you recommend? I have read the various instructions for doing this over and over again and I have created this file so many times and in so many different ways that currently I am feeling quite disoriented with the process. Thanks in advance for any advice that could be provided.

Hi Dan,

Yep! First encounter with the SWORD concept can be a steep learning curve.
It was for me, when I joined up with CrossWire four years ago.
Even some of the terminology can be baffling to a novice.

It's worthwhile to persevere and learn something new each day.
The developers' wiki is a very good resource, and it has lots of pages.

You may also find it useful to join in one of the IRC chats, details of
which are given in
http://crosswire.org/wiki/Help:Contents
http://crosswire.org/wiki/Help:Contents
There are usually folk around who can answer simple questions quickly.

Blessings!

Regards,

David
