[sword-devel] iPhone developers?

It's my understanding that, in order to sign apps for use on an
iPhone/iPod Touch, you have to enroll in the $99/yr iPhone SDK developer
program. (Not just ADC.)

IMO, it would be nice to have a jailbreak/Cydia version of the app.
These obviously reach a much smaller audience, but the whole culture is
much more in line with the Linuxiness and hackery that tends to
accompany free (as in GNU) software. A good example of AppStore and
jailbreak/Cydia apps coexisting is the two versions of Wolfenstein 3-D
for iPhone (which is not coincidentally also GPL). id software released
their code for Wolfenstein 3-D on iPhone at roughly the same time they
submitted the app to the AppStore. It was compiled and released via
Cydia by someone in that community almost immediately. And some days
later, it appeared in the AppStore for $5, being sold by id officially.

Folks will need to be careful, however, because Apple has licensing
restrictions in place that say if you're part of the SDK developer
program, you're not allowed to engage in jailbreak app development (or
some such thing). See
