Dear Barry,

I have just tried your example scenario with the search example in the 
sword engine and get the same results.  This is a 1.5.10 issue and may 
be related to the bug Karl also reported.  I am trying to hunt it down 
now.  Hopefully soon you will be able to do an svn update on your sword 
checkout and get the fix.  Thank you for taking the time to work through 
this one and provide a good failure case.  I'll keep you posted on my 
progress.
