Manfred,

Lucene allows for wildcard searches. That is you can append a * to  
the end of the user input.

While Lucene 2.0 is a substantial performance improvement, it should  
not be necessary. But no harm in using it.

Did you try the hesychius module Troy put together. You can find it  
here:

It is a GenBook, but Troy says he can redo it as a dictionary, if  
needed.

Here is what it looked like for me using your MacSword-release.app.  
Note that the tree is not displaying correctly.
