OK, thanks for all the suggestions and question.  There is a new
ModEdit.jar available:

Standalone version has been updated as well, including the new images
and a more detailed README from Fred Saalbach.

The new .jar includes updates to the Guidelines section and MORE
IMPORTANTLY a new feature:

A [Split] button for the Greek tag.  Any Greek tag may be split at most
once.  The button will toggle the splitting of the tag on and off.

This should solve alot of the problems we've had playing around thus far.
