I would be glad to change it. I merely took the official iso 3166 file  
and converted it into a properties file. The name in there is what was  
in the file.

I'm not sure that asserting that simplified is the default is a good  
idea. Simplified was created by Mao as a way of wiping out the  
traditions of China (out with the old and in with the new). My  
daughter-in-law, who is from Taiwan, expressed the view that she only  
wants to read traditional. I'm not sure, but I think that to assert  
simplified is to assert communism in the minds of many Chinese.  
Besides Taiwan, my son tells me that Hong Kong prefers traditional to  
simplified as well.

On a related note, my son told me that mainland China has a rule that  
software delivered into there country may contain any language and any  
script except traditional Chinese.

Making either the default will probably cause offense to the other.

I'll look into this. My guess is that you may need to delete  
desktop.properties. (I should add a way to "reset" properties to the  
default.)
