Hi,

I thought [BD-2] "Hide the reference pane if there are no reference
works" would be an easy bug to fix, but oh No!.
The code to do the hiding was fairly simple, but it has brought out a
bizarre issue where the sword driver path gets set to an array
containing null for some reason.
In addition during startup I think we might end up registering books
twice, which would really slow things down. More investigation needed.
