Was this maybe introduced when we were looking for a new name - IIRC we were worried that Wolfgang Schultz and his band (Zefania) would register the name we ultimately chose - as he had done with Bibledesktop. A channel to talk privately in and discuss stuff like names etc?

Anyway, I agree, not needed.
