I guess that it is better to use what is already at CrossWire, supported (by you) and is part of a larger future goal.

I couldn't find anything at their website detailing what it does. Is their documentation? Can you put up the forum for us, so we can see what it does and doesn't do? Or is http://www.liferay.com/community/forums a good example?(I assume they eat their own dog food).

Curiosity: If the components have been built as open social gadgets does that mean that the forum could be plugged into Jira? Or visa versa?

Is there a way that we can move to(ward) single signon for forum, wiki, jira, crosswire community?

In Him,
	DM

The components have all been built as OpenSocial gadgets and require an OpenSocial container to run them inside. These are typically full web portal applications. We use Liferay here at the INTF and it is very mature, though more heavyweight than I would like. I've been using it for the past 2 years now and am familiar with the platform. It runs dog-slow in development mode, but in production mode it is decent. I was probably going to use Liferay to restart the CrossWire Community tools (at http://community.crosswire.org). They have a decent forum component portlet.

We now moderate sign-ups and only let those in who tell us who they are. This becomes part of their public image on the wiki. Works well for site devoted to developers. Not sure it works as part of a support forum.

While I'd prefer something open-source, I don't mind something that isn't but has a strong commitment to the open source community, like Atlassian (Jira).
