Since we've been getting a lot of spam on the forums lately, I've just 
enabled require_activation on the forums. Unactivated users won't be 
able to login/post. Activation, I assume, is just a check for a valid 
email address, but it will pose a small barrier to spammers.

I have also sent out emails to the 744 unactivated accounts requesting 
that they activate, and will delete all unactivated accounts in 1 week. 
Lots of these are spammers or other non-posters who aren't actually 
involved in the forums in any sense.
