The remote VPN endpoint that has provided my home server's (as
<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="ftp://ftp.xiphos.org's">ftp.xiphos.org's</a>) external visibility for roughly 2 decades
completely failed last weekend. It was finally determined yesterday
that that node will not come back. So I worked out the necessary
dynamic DNS and other matters needed so that it can be seen again
without the VPN. As soon as the DNS A RR is updated, <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="ftp://ftp.xiphos.org">ftp.xiphos.org</a>
will be visible again.<br>

As a stopgap, you can adjust your setting to use host
karlkleinpaste.ddns.net. Simon Meers handles DNS for xiphos.org as
a whole, and I've sent him a request to replace the old A RR with a
CNAME RR as the solution to this problem.<br>
<br>
Regrets for this disconnect, but obviously this level of total
failure wasn't anticipated.<br>
