Fred,

As the maintainer for the Fedora packages, it is also my responsibility to maintain the EPEL packages for sword, Xiphos, and BibleTime. Just about ten days ago completed building sword 1.7.3 for epel 7. Xiphos 4.0.0 is also built for Rawhide. There is at last one more Xiphos dependency that I need to branch into the epel branches for building Xiphos 4 there. When I return from vacation next week I plan to request Biblesync branches for epel 7 and build Xiphos 4.0 for it as well.

You can find the bugzilla issue in Redhat's tracker that tracks importing Xiphos for EPEL 7. That will receive notifications when the package is ready for testing. Follow it if you wish to keep abreast of my progress.

Hi all!

Karl, thanks for the ongoing work on Xiphos, I think it's a great tool!

I tend to run Centos systems at home, and as such they aren't bleeding
edge, so I'm always having to struggle to find packages of newer releases
of one program or another.

I made a brief attempt at building latest Sword and Xiphos 4.x.x but
without much luck (I don't recall where I got bogged down, I can go
back and do it again if it would help).

So, I was wondering if Karl or anyone else with more expertise than
I has created (or could be persuaded to create) packages for Centos-6
(which is my current desktop at home) and/or Centos-7 (which will soon
be going onto my netbook).

The epel repo has some packages ostensibly for Centos-6, but nothing
yet for Centos-7, and my experience is that the C6 packages aren't quite
right (details can be provided if anyone wants 'em) [later: as I recall,
there are conflicts in yum between the sword and xiphos packages that I
haven't found a way to resolve].

Thanks again for all the work you do Karl, as well as all the others
whose fingers are in the Sword underpinnings you build upon.
