I was wondering if there had ever been any progress on this?:) Specifically, an arabic translation with the vowels(as esword has).<BR>

the text we have which is without vowels. So it is desirable to get it

You might remember an exchange of emails a few months ago on the mailing
list. Since then I have tracked down the copy right holder (for the
vowel addition/electronic text) and have been in an on/off
email/telephone conversation. They
Essentially they are a very slow moving outfit. Looking at their
websites and the websites of churches associated with them, you will see
they are often not updated for years.
They are also very protective of the text and do not want to release it
without clear legal agreement and - they can not multi task, seemingly
being only one person doing the work, probably in his spare time. At the
moment they are in the final throws of a agreeing a legal settlement
with someone else and I am next in line. Or so I am told.
I think to harass them will be counter productive - hence I asked Costas
, another guy who contacted me off list and claimed to know them
somewhat - to stay out of it for the moment.
I am sure with patience we will get the rights to the text - 6 months?
My aim is to get rights for Crosswire and its recipients to
non-commercially redistribute the unaltered finalised module. So no
re-export into Xephania or e-sword or whatever. "Creative Commons
Attribution-Non-commercial-No Derivative Works" or some such.
The last two times I got seriously copyrighted texts it took me 9/12 of
patient digging to get an actual agreement - after I had basic
agreement.....
The step after that - I will be totally incapable of doing something
with the text as it is in Word and i see no way for my limited skills to
get it into sword. But I gather from Chris that that would actually be
simple?
My "bartering" is based on that they can use Crosswire's software to
their own aims including redistributing it from their site and also that
we would give them the OSIS version for whatever else they want to use it.
