sword is packaged in F15 and contrary to F16 it shouldn't be affected by 
disasters around clucene. Starting from the sword.src.rpm might be a 
good way to start.

And even then you don't have to betray free world for wine. There is 
always http://www.crosswire.org/study/ (which is what I use on F16), and 
http://www.crosswire.org/jsword/ (which is not packaged, but it should 
be just one jar and it should work with OpenJDK packaged in Fedora as well).
