Looking at the OSIS->RTF filter it looks like it should work:

if (type == "bold" || type == "b" || type == "x-b")
     outText("{\\b1 ", buf, u);
else    // all other types
     outText("{\\i1 ", buf, u);


If you have a chance, give the latest beta a try and let me know
