If the  http://www.crosswire.org/wiki/Module_Requests#African_Languages
Module Request  for Amharic Bibles comes to fruition, I think this would
require a special Ethiopic font to be installed in Windows. I will post
details later.

There may be other stuff in the pipeline that will need special fonts.
