Peter,
Thank you for all of your hard work on this. I realize you have stated
that your main goal is to update the usability and content and to make
the page aesthetics easily changeable with CSS. These are all great
goals. I feel that before we consider using your new work, we should
have someone with aesthetic skill (NOT ME!) have a go at the CSS and
look. The old site wasn't wonderful, but consider only the ease on the
eyes difference between the two:

A few brief comments about the content. More later if these don't bring
about larger changes on the current state:
I feel the project site has lost its identity, subsumed within a corner
of the CrossWire site. I think this is because of the large CrossWire
logo at the top instead of The SWORD Project logo :)
The front page has no current event information. We've lost the
immediate exposure of news and top downloads.
The SWORD Engine and Module Library links (probably others) have large
text at the top which looks hokey and is mispelled.
The SWORD Engine page has top links which don't work.
