Of course its copyright

Why?

Because the NIV is a translation of the Hebrew and Greek
It involves hours of dedication and research
Then people write a translation

Remember the copyright notice inlcudes the phrase: "in any form
whatsoever in any retrieval system, databse mechanical or
electronic..."you're not even allowed to make a translation of the NIV
without prior written consent from the publishers.
