Thanks, Chris.  I hope I'm not being annoying, but I'm still not quite sure 
what tags SWORD supports in ThML.  Is there any definitive guide?  I'm trying 
to use ThML from the CCEL specification and it doesn't work correctly.  
Here's my line for John 1:1, maybe you can shed some light on why it's not 
working correctly:

$$$John 1:1
<verse><l class="t1">The Word was first,</l><l class="t2">the Word present to 
God,</l><l class="t2">God present to the Word.</l></verse>
