thought I'd let ppl know of my struggles yesterday and this morning with
OS X and the existing front-ends (NOT the currently-in-development
native ones)...
since I was sick (nothing bad, just kept me from work) and in bed, I
grabbed my laptop and updated my fink packages to be up-to-date with the
stable packages... rather impressive what they now have there! noticed
that it included all the stuff required for gnomesword... so grabbed
the latest sword cvs, and it compiled without touching the code,
straight out of the box, sorta! :) then the latest gnomesword package
from sf. the ./configure worked, and even tho it said spelling wouldn't
be included, it then proceeded to get stuck in the make of some spelling
stuff... fixed that in the config.h, and retried and it had macros
errors... may retry at some stage in the future, but am not well versed
with macros, so didn't try... had a look at bibletime, but the latest
stable qt libraries are v2, not v3 (which is in unstable)... so gave
that a miss... [yes, you can tell I can't wait for the OS X front-end
to be consolidated and made available on cvs so I can contribute!] so
the next option was diatheke... had to hand edit the httpd.conf to get
perl in apache, and then just edited the top of the .pl, and...
YAY! :) was starting to loose hope, but now I have at least something
for when I'm away from my net connection... :) was playing around with
stuff to check it out, and using IE it displays the LXX quite nicely,
altho having no idea about ordering I'm not sure if it's doing the
left-to-right, or right-to-left stuff properly (is it meant to???)...
anyway, am happy now, but will probably try to tinker some more with gs
to see if I can get it to do something more interesting than fail to
compile... :)
oh, and how many ppl _are_ writing Carbon front-ends??? Will,
Nathan??? any others? anyway, must go... :)
ybic
nic... :)
