I think the splash screen is kind of nice, but the Windows icon and
buttons (including the check mark next to the verse display which
doesn't look like  a button right now) could need some work.

Just go ahead and make some suggestions! If you use a layer-capable
software such as Photoshop, try to design the buttons in a way that
the text can be replaced -- so that they can be translated to other
languages. 

(Maybe someone with more insight can add some coments about future GUI
plans?)
