I ran across an amusing echo of the original verse on Friday. It's not on 
topic as such (the tenuous link being that it is based on a Bible verse) but 
it is short and in its own way inspiring:

  `Faith is the substance of fossils hoped for,
   the evidence of transitionals not seen.'
