It's an old version of libmingw32.a - this has the file handling functions 
with Linux names (open() etc) and these do not seem to be in the new 
version. I suppose the correct thing to do would be to extract thm from the 
old library and make a separate library out of them so the new libmingw32.a 
can be used.  I havan't had the time to do that as yet.
