The "standard" way to do this is to preface the locked module with some constant known plain text. If the key correctly decrypts this, then chances are VERY good that the correct key was entered. If it doesn't, then the correct key was not entered. If this feature wasn't designed in from the start, you can check for known features of the specific text, such as valid printable ASCII characters only, correct tags, etc.
