Hi Todd & Fred,
I'm cc:ing to osis-core, since I don't think there's a definite solution.
The UBS/SIL code "DNT" refers to Tischendorf's edition of Daniel. I think
the UBS/SIL codes were adapted from or at least matched to the texts from
CCEL, which include an LXX with two versions of Daniel, one of which is
marked as Tischendorf's version.
The problem is that there are, in a sense, three different versions of
Daniel: the Hebrew/Aramaic text, the standard Greek text (that you might
find in Rahlfs'), and Tischendorf's Greek text.
The code being used in the text you give is "DNT", which technically
refers to Tischendorf's text, though the underlying Greek for this book
was almostly certainly the more standard LXX Greek text. OSIS has never
identified these three Daniels (or the two Esthers, two Judges, two
Joshuas, etc.) as distinct books, so "Dan" covers all three.
If you are marking a text that only contains one book of Daniel, and it
happens to be marked "DNT", there's no question about just marking it
"Dan" in OSIS. The problem can arise is multiple books of Daniel (or
Esther), marked "DAN", "DNT", "EST" and "ESG", respectively. In that
circumstance, I would say you really have two separate works and I would
mark them with different work IDs. You would probably never want to
render both in the same rendering anyway.
