Troy,

(HTML used to represent bold rendering:)

From the "Explanation of General Format" in Lockman's version of the
NASB from their NAS Reference Library for Libronix: "<b>Paragraphs</b>
are designated by bold face verse numbers or letters."

Rendering of the passages you cite, from the same Lockman text:

Matt.1.25-Matt.2.1:

25 but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called
His name Jesus.
Chapter 2
The Visit of the Magi
<b>1</b> Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of
Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,

Matt.8.34-Matt.9.2:

34 And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they
saw Him, they implored Him to leave their region.
Chapter 9
A Paralytic Healed
<b>1</b> Getting into a boat, Jesus crossed over the sea and came to
His own city.
<b>2</b> And they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing
their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, “Take courage, son; your sins
are forgiven.”

Bold face "letters" are used for paragraph breaking mid-verse, such as
in Rev.13.1:

<b>1</b> And the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore.
<b>T</b>hen I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and
seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were
blasphemous names.

This mirrors my print version, also from Lockman. I will check all 1189
chapters, if that would convince you.
