Suspect the line/verse problem is worst in the poetic materials, might
occur elsewhere but less likely. Looking at Psalms (NKJV), I don't
really see that many cases where lines cross verses, more often than not
there are several lines within a verse. Admittedly I just started at the
beginning and check every 20th Psalm so that may not be a good enough
sample.
Todd: are you describing poetic lines or other lines?
