You might not need either the osisID or osisRef in those cases, unless 
he has the verses in the title to the section, then you might want to 
use <reference osisRef=""> for a link to the material being discussed:

<section whatever you call it><title><reference 
osisRef="John.1.5-John.1.10">John 1:5-10</reference></title>

Does that handle the text you had in mind?

Sorry to hear you have been feeling bad! This is not a good time of the 
year for that sort of thing! (But you already knew that!)

School? School? What is this? Someone hired you to teach school? ;-)
