Hi,<div><br></div><div>There seems to be some buzz around Android Tabs (7"+ Android devices which have more powerful or multiple processors and more memory) and I thought it might be nice to write a new Sword app for Tabs and to take advantage of the newer technologies too : Scala, ioc, Android 3.0 widgets, git/Mercurial non-linear development.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Some framework ideas:</div><div><ul><li>initially based on And Bible for quick start but could fork later</li><li>more complex ui to utilise larger screen</li><ul><li>multiple panels</li><li>new widgets</li>
</ul><li>Scala (not Java) because Android architecture is based around multiple threads etc., new devices have 2+ cpus, it simplifies code, and it is an exciting technology</li><li>JSword backend - but maybe create SSword (ScalaSword?) in the future</li>
<li>ioc framework - Robojuice or SpringAndroid</li><li>git or Mercurial - it makes sense to allow developers to play with new ideas and merge</li></ul><div>The above architecture would add to the size of the app which would be a disadvantage for current mobiles but probably not too bad for Tabs or future mobiles. It might take 6 months or a year to bear fruit by which time mobile/tab device specs should have become greater.</div>
<div><br></div><div>There are lots of buzzwords there but I thought it might be the kind of app that a lot of people pile into for fun and hopefully a nice Sword ui for Android tabs emerges. Some of the ideas might make their way back into And Bible.</div>
</div><div><br></div><div><div>I don't have enough time to lead this or get it off the ground (but I could contribute) and I am not sure if anybody would be interested but the idea came and seemed interesting so I thought I would suggest it.</div>
<div><br></div></div><div>Regards</div><div>Martin</div>
