Hi,
*
*
*Release Plan*
I have built And Bible version
0.3.00rc1<http://and-bible.googlecode.com/files/AndBible-0.3.00rc1.apk>
for
Android and it may be downloaded from and-bible
downloads<http://code.google.com/p/and-bible/downloads/list>.
My plan is to do some more testing, integrate any new or updated
localisations and then do another build for App Market at the end of next
week.

*User Interface Localisations*
Now would be a good time for people who have contributed localisations to
consider if they would like to update the localisation text to reflect
recent changes and amendments to the And Bible interface. Any new or
updated localisations can be included in a release build at the end of next
week.

*Text Changes*
There is a new Speech Dialog with associated text, a list of languages used
for localisation switching (see more below), a few new Options and other
small changes which are fairly localized and should require only
modification of localisations not a rewrite. I have tried not to reorder
text lines so you can tell what has changed. Here is the basic And
Bible localisation
guide <http://code.google.com/p/and-bible/wiki/UserInterfaceTranslation>.

If there is a translator who would like to volunteer to be a central point
of contact for translators, to guide and assist new translators, and to
improve the localisation process then it would be a big help.

Point of interest: I don't have geographical statistics on And Bible use but
noticed that there are more hits on the And Bible development web
site<http://code.google.com/p/and-bible/>from the Czech Republic than
from any other country except USA.

*Testing*
*If you install this version I would be grateful if you inform me of any
errors you notice and it would also help, if you are using Android 1.6, 2.1,
2.3 or 3.0, to tell me if you do NOT find any errors because my own mobile
runs Android 2.2 and I only do selective testing on other versions.*

*Changes in this version*

   - Ability to search in Chinese bibles (contributed by Guan)
   - Ability to share a verse via Twitter and Facebook (contributed by
   Filipe)
   - Ability to display one verse per line (contributed by Stephen)
   - More powerful speech control
      - speak multiple chapters
      - use local pronunciation
      - repeat speech
      - speaks bibles, commentaries, dictionaries and books
   - General books e.g. Calvin's Institutes, Hodge's Systematic Theology,
   Pilgrim's Progress
   - Gill's Commentary now available
   - Limited Xiphos repo integration
   - Quick links to module list and navigation in header
   - Change user interface language
   - Structured document selector
   - Fix Strong's links in Russian bibles
   - Several bug fixes

Here are comments on a few of the above changes.

Chinese Search
Many thanks to Guan who has done an excellent job selecting an appropriate
Lucene Analyzer (mmseg4j <http://code.google.com/p/mmseg4j/>), integrated,
and tested it. The Chinese analyzer used by JSword was too resource hungry
for mobile phones and so, prior to Guan's work, had been disabled.

*Books & Xiphos*
These took a bit longer than expected. Android has no tree control so I use
a long list for the contents. You can use the Speech Control to speak any
module type including General Books and it normally works well. I have
enjoyed listening to Hodge's Systematic Theology recently. Xiphos repo
contains some good books and so some of the books you see in the download
list are from the Xiphos repo but integration with Xiphos is not yet perfect
so I manually included a few selected books and also Gills Commentary.

*Change User Interface Language*
*This was done partly to support languages like Faroese and Welsh that do
not have a locale selectable on the mobile phone but I also thought it might
be useful for others.*
*
*
*Go to Options screen and you will find it near the bottom. After changing
locale and exiting Options the app will restart with the new locale. The
setting is persistent. To revert to the default locale select Default from
the list of languages. *
*
*
*Not Done*
There is a lot that has not been done but the work continues. One area I
need advice on is font inclusion to improve support for Greek and Hebrew and
the more widely used foreign languages.
*
*
Best regards
Martin
