Hi guys,
I have just joined this mailing list, but I'm not sure if I'll stay on it long? If it's basically Android Dev, I'll probably just lurk and not have much to say. But, good to see that Jason has some screenshots. I just wanted to elaborate on what the reference selector screens do:
if you tap on the "disclosure" icon next to a book name or a chapter number, it will jump straight to ch 1, v1 of that chapter OR straight to v1 of that chapter. The idea is that you can very quickly jump to the start of a book if you want, or start of a chapter, or to a specific verse, depending on how many taps you want to use... :) the list down the right side of the screens is a way to jump to a point in the list, so you don't have to scroll down lots to find a certain book/chapter.

I have code for the iPhone to create grids of buttons for book names & chapter numbers, etc, but even tho that's what i was used to from PalmBible+ days, I decided it was a bad UI design for a touch screen display and that the iOS provided better ways of doing this. :) However, Olive Tree and other apps use the grid method of navigating, so I'm not saying you shouldn't go that route - it's just that I decided (after implementing it both ways) that the current method was better for the iPhone... :)

I'm currently laptop-less & hence not doing any Dev for the next few weeks, so I may not be responding to emails for the next little while, but I'm happy to answer any questions if I have time :)

Thanks, ybic
Nic... :)

> Okay guys, I'll look at navigation again and probably experiment with a grid again but it won't be soon because there is lots of missing functionality I plan to work on first. The current grouping was intended to address the problem of having a very long list to scroll to reach some books. The whole app is a work-in-progress.

There is also the issue of consistency between screens and also with 66 buttons on 1 screen it is tricky to make the buttons easy to hit accurately. If anybody has some nice code they would like to contribute...
