Not true, GPL does not imply that they must post code publicly. However,
if a user requests the code, it MUST be given to them. So, just request
it be given, and you can post it.
TV manufacturers do this all the time, because they really don't want to
share the code. But, they are required to give it to any user that asks
for it.
