DM Smith commented on JS-131:
-----------------------------

Java is confused. Currently we use 'in' for Indonesian and 'iw' for Hebrew. But they should be 'id' and 'he' respectively.
In a similar vein, we had to do some special stuff for Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

It appears that Java knows 'no' but not 'nn' or 'nb'. And that Java 1.4.2, Java 5, Java 6 and Java 7 do things differently.

The questions I have:
*If a user of a computer in a Norwegian locale starts Java and outputs Java's notion of the current locale (language and country code) what is the result for 1.4.2, 5, and 6? Likewise for Android?
*Would it be best to have 'no', 'nn' and 'nb' just to cover the possibilities? What should 'no' have?
*How does one outside of the Norwegian locale set their local machine (i.e. outside of Java) to that locale to test it.
*Having not looked, what do the SWORD modules have as their locale.

I'm looking for answers and advice.

I think this is the design doc for Java 7.

> Until they are replaced people working in Norway will probably not get the correct localized text. I am not Norwegian but this is what I have been told by somebody who is.
> I have attached the translated properties files and also added a SectionNames properties file for nb
