[jsword-devel] Alkitab 1.1 will not install on Ubuntu 8.04 Jdk1.6.0_07 because of chmod a+x

I have a great opportunity with a group of believers/unbelievers to develop their interest in Bible study via Java.

I have run ./setup from the kiyutC directory above 6 times trying to do various sidesteps to get the program to run.  The 1st time it died because I tried to use the gui to install in a different directory.  The other times it always died at 
error executing /bin/chmod a+x/myPath
even though I manually edited and changed myPath every time.

Once I tried to use 
sudo ./setup
this managed to reset my $PATH so that /java/bin and /jre no longer appeared on $PATH.

Oh how I wish everything was just a simple .sh instead of a gui that makes you think you are locked behind windows and gates.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I am trying to do all I can but my cancer that took my left kidney is now in the right kidney and both lungs.  I am taking 3 max tolerance experimental chemo therapies.  So I have to spend about 20 hours a day in bed and just cannot do to much when I get on the computer or teach a group.
