Rob,

Sorry to send this privately, but I cannot seem to get my email to
go through to bt-devel.

I love to hear that you are interested in improving how BT works
with original languages because I am working on the Westminster
Hebrew Morphology module. The syntax module will likely follow after
we get the morphology module working well. Here is a summary of how
the module works in BibleTool (online) and BibleTime:

- Lemma lookup: Works in BibleTool (not BibleTime)
- Lemma search: Works in BibleTool (not BibleTime)
- Morph lookup: Works in BibleTool (but in BibleTime case-sensitive
issue means some results are erroneous - this is fixed in the engine
but needs to be released)
- Morph search: Works in BibleTime (not BibleTool), but
case-sensitive issue crops up

The ability to do a case-sensitive search will be the key to an
effective morph search. After that, lemma search needs to work.

If you or anyone else is interested in having a single-book module
for testing/development purposes, I can talk to the Groves Center
about it.

hesitate to even suggest when I'm still getting the development
environment setup ...

Patrick, as a BibleTime user, I can say I love your
ideas and would be excited to see BibleTime 2.0 totally
revamped in this direction.

Here's my two cents: Building on familiarity is a
huge asset to usability (IMHO). You're already
borrowing several concepts from the web & web
browsers, but I say keep going! Realistically, most
of us use the web more then any other computer
activity now-a-days, so unless we have a fundamentally
better design them them, it simply makes sense to
mimic their functionality.

For example, I would place the back/forward buttons
to the left of the location bar, with tabs above, just
like Google Chrome. I would also display search
results with a Google feel to it. Maybe I'm just too
much of a Google fan =)

I would also combine all of the passage selection
modules into one unified layout, where the book,
chapter, and verse could all be
changed simultaneously from one screen; computer
screens have plenty of room after all. (Am I making
sense? Just combine the top two mockups into one.)

Hello,

since IRC doesn't seem to be a good place for
feature proposal and feedback, I
repost this as an email. This should give
everyone more time to respond.

I made up a new GUI for selecting passages and
doing searches in BT. I would
like your opinion on this before starting with
the implementation to prevent
extra work.

The basic idea behind all this is to provide a
quicker workflow for accessing
bible passages. Passages of which I may or may
not know the exact verse, i.e.
I have to search.
Any feedback is very welcome.
