Gary, this install uses nothing but the source svn sword package or with bibletime the clone of the git directory for bibletime. No software packages of sword, xiphos, or bibletime were used. <br><br>The crash is early, never finishing the initialization. The message "Creating Bibletime's User Interface" never appears on the splash screen. In the local .bibletime directory the directories cache, display-templates indices, sessions get writen, but of course no Bibletimerc or bookmarks.xml. The splash screen shows and then 4 or 5 minutes later you get the message "Segmentation Fault"<br>
<br>If I use the bibletime.2.7.2.tar.gz, it builds fine against the sword svn 2435 install. The real problem isn't that I cannot get bibletime working on these boxes, it is that it seems to me the git source should build also? What's the difference? I build these boxes and send them off to the hinterland to be used by national pastors. It seems to me if the svn xiphos builds fine against the sword svn, then the bibletime git should do the same.<br>

If you were missing a package it would be a problem for building,
not runtime. <br>
<br>
From you log I see that the crash is very early in the startup of
Bibletime while initializing the backend and sword. Since you are
building sword from svn, I want to make sure you don't have the
sword package (libsword8) installed. If you were to build Bibletime
using sword svn headers, but at runtime you were finding the package
version of sword, you might have problems like you are seeing. <br>
<br>
Normally when I build on ubuntu I don't use sword svn. I install the
libsword8 and libsword-dev packages. Perhaps you can try it that
way. By sure to delete bibletime/build/CMakeCache.txt if you switch
to building with libsword-dev. Verify that it does not find the svn
version of sword by checking CMakeCache.txt after the build and
looking for sword paths.<br><font color="#888888">

No joy with bibletime, "Segmentation default." Attached is the

Am I missing some kind of package to build bibletime? <br>

I have fixed an hang/crash issue which I
also believe is the issue you
are having. Our source is now in git at:<br>

Gary, I cloned the git directory, built the
download against sword svn
2535 -- I'm not sure how you check what
version of git I have. It
builds fine without errors. But when you
start bibletime it hangs at
the splash screen, never gets to creating
the interface, and then
Segmentation Fault. <br>

I this case you can do a "git log" and look for "Fix
refactoring
hang/crash issue introduced 2010-07-20<br>
". It seems like the issue I found is not the issue
you are having. <br>
<br>
I am building on ubuntu 10.04, but not with sword svn
2535. It will
give this a try later today.<br>

Tom,<br>
<br>
I have compiled sword svn and bibletime git HEAD on ubuntu
10.04 and
fedora 12. Both work fine for me. <br>
<br>
Is it possible you have the sword package (1.6.1) installed
(/usr/lib/libsword.so on ubuntu) and have also installed
when you built
the sword source (/usr/local/lib/libsword.a). It so, you
need to remove
the package version if you install from the source version.<br>
