Sorry, I wasn't talking about Gregorian vs Julian vs other calendars.
I meant that the day of Easter falls on either of two different dates
depending on one's tradition. Some Orthodox church still follow the
Julian rules, others follow a modified version of the Western rules.
The result is there is not infrequently a discrepancy between when
Roman Catholic and Protestants are celebrating Easter and when the
Orthodox churches are celebrating Easter. A more complete description
can be found here: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/faq/docs/easter.php along
with a mathematical formula for the calculation of the Western
tradition's date.
If we're happy to stick with only the Western date, then I suppose
that calculation is as good as any. An implementation of the algorithm
can be used here: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/easter.php. If we
would at least like to include our Eastern/Orthodox friends in this,
then someone would need to locate equivalent algorithms for that
calculation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computus#Algorithms has such
an algorithm under the title "Meeus Julian Algorithm". It also
mentions a CPAN module - perhaps there is a similar C or C++ library.
