Summary: red-letter highlighting should be configurable
Initial Comment:
Seems like a great piece of software. It would be
nice to have an easy way to edit templates, without
having to recompile bibletime. Seems like this should
be pretty feasible. Also, it would be nice to be able
to disable the red-letting highlighting of the words
of Jesus, for a more consistent, easy-to-read
appearance to the text. This is part of the template
issue, I know, but it would be nice to have this
feature enableable/disableable separately, with the
template just controlling its behavior/color/etc..
Could go in the "text filters" section of the config
dialog...

Hi,
it's already possible to switch of the highlighting.
In a Bible window click on the "display settings" popup menu in the
windows's toolbar and switch of the highlighting.
Is that what you wanted?

Actually I just discovered the
~/.kde/share/apps/bibletime/display-templates thing myself
and was about to revoke this post and replace it. I'll just post an
update/response here
instead. I commend you, by the way, on the very prompt response.
The ability to add custom templates is great -- it would be nice to be
able to set a name
for them, though, other than "filename.tmpl (user template)". I see that
cdisplaytemplatemgr.cpp creates that name in loadUserTemplates(), but it
would be nicer if
it would just use the name of the file minus the .tmpl extension (if it's
present), and not
add the "(user template)". Relatively minor issue, I admit but it would be
nice, and not
difficult to implement.
Aside from that, I know that the highlighting is completely dependent on
the template used.
However, it would be nice to have a configurable option to control this at
a higher level.
If the configurable option was disabled, bibletime would not even add the
class="jesuswords" to the HTML document, I suppose. This would be nice
because it would be
easier to switch between highlighting and not, but still using the same
template, without
necessitating having two separate copies of every desired template, one
with highlighting
on and one without it...
Templates are great, but the ability to control their behavior and when
they're relevant is
even better.

You can put your own custom templates in
~/.kde/share/apps/bibletime/display-templates
As for red-lettering highlihgts of words of Christ, they are
controlled entirely by the template you use. The High contrast
italicizes it for instance since it only has like two or three
colours in it.
