make
sudo checkinstall )
the instruction is given:
Please write a description for the package.
End your description with an empty line or EOF.

When entering a name using upper case characters (e.g.
BibleTime1.6beta1) a message shows up:
*** Warning: The package name "bibletime-1.6beta1"
contains upper case
*** Warning: letters. dpkg might not like that so I changed
*** Warning: them to lower case.

Wolfgang, you have used a third party program (checkinstall), which is not officially supported by BibleTime. You have to know yourself how to use it. The instruction you cited is from this program, and not from BibleTime, so you have to file a bug report there, not here.
