Thank you for your detailed bug report! I fixed to handle the following 
errors:
	Sword 1.5.6 can't  handle refs like John 1:1 -John 2:1 in the right way. I 
returns "John" for this. And this gave BibleTime an empty search range. We 
repair now the range string the user entered so the spaces around the dash 
are removed.
	An empty search scope crashed Sword/BibleTime. BT checks now for an empty 
scope and disables the scope for the search if it's empty.
