Hi,
They accepted it as a 'free' license, but as one that doesn't work
well with the GPL.

It's ok to link them together (AFAIK), it's just that you can't
distribute GPL code and QPL code in the same program.

Yes. The KDE libraries are ok because they are under the LGPL which
basically allows anything to link to them.
The only potential problem would be the KDE code that is part of
Bibletime (this stuff):

It isn't possible to change the license of that code without permission.
