Don't get frustrated :) When you have a job such things will happen from
time to time. I once worked during my study for a small company that
wanted to exhibit their program at Cebit (big german computer fare). It
was a week or so before and there was a bug with the protected mode (DOS
times). We search till 2am to find out that it was probably a compiler
bug or something unexplainable. We had to add a few bytes (only for
protected mode) to a jump address (assembler) that it would hit the
right function :) I couldn't explain it but it worked. So don't struggle
too much.
But you could try it with a fresh user and fvwm and not a mix of KDE1
and 2. Maybe there's a problem. But as I said, at work with one mode I
get the lines.
